Kathmandu: Both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly have commenced formal discussions on the government’s recently presented policies and programs. The policies were read out in parliament by President Ram Chandra Poudel on Baisakh 19.
The discussions in both houses will help shape and refine the government’s plans before the annual budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 is unveiled on Jestha 15. Based on the outcomes of the debates and proposed amendments, the government is expected to revise its policies accordingly.
The House of Representatives meeting began at 11 a.m., where Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli tabled a proposal to initiate discussion on the policies. The meeting agenda includes debates on both the proposed policies and the amendments submitted by lawmakers. The House of Representatives is scheduled to continue discussions for six days.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly has also begun deliberations on the same matter, which will continue today and tomorrow. Lawmakers had already submitted their names for presenting amendments on Sunday.
These discussions are a key part of Nepal’s annual legislative and financial planning cycle, paving the way for the formulation of the national budget.
